A470 Installation at Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno.

Commissioned by Oriel Mostyn Gallery in Llandudno, as part of a group project on Wales’ only north-south link road. Photographing in museums and visitors centres along the A470, Richard’s installation was presented as a series of small lightboxes and focused on the simulated versions of the landscape, history and culture of Wales which had been placed on display as interpretative material. The environment surrounding the A470 is reproduced in information panels, scale models, TV monitors, dioramas and fibreglass wildlife along the length of the road, allowing us, in our age of virtual reality and manufactured perception, to experience nature and industrial heritage without having to get our feet muddy or hands dirty.
The project also featured work by John Davies, Kieron Lyons and Paul Seawright.
